In July, 2000, my son was born. He had all his fingers and toes, but he didn’t take his first breathe right and suffered from a rare birth problem called Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension. Basically, even though he was breathing and his heart was pumping, the blood wasn’t forced to go through his lungs properly and he was suffering from oxygen deprivation. He toyed with death for 3 days in neo-natal intensive care with all the doctors wondering if he did live, would he suffer from permanent brain damage? It was my worst nightmare come to life.
He did eventually stabilize with normal heart and lung function, and was released after 9 days. We were elated until the bills came in and eliminated all our savings and more…
On this backdrop and with the intention of being responsible parents, we applied for life insurance. Shockingly, I was denied because, based on blood tests, it was too likely that I would die before they made any money! I could hardly believe it!
I went to our doctor immediately and she confirmed that my liver function was out-of-kilter based on the findings of a repeat blood test. We promptly went to a specialist. He told us that he couldn’t rule out cancer and scheduled me for an MRI. I began to get worried. My precious, new son who’d fought so valiantly for life was only 4 months old. He couldn’t lose his mother after that last ordeal! He just couldn’t!
The MRI results also could not rule out cancer and so they scheduled a CatScan.
I took a deep breath, and despite our financial challenges and the plain-old exhaustion caused by the normal care of an infant, I determined that I would learn about cancer and health and I would figure out how to beat this! My son would not lose his mother!
Immediately, I was overwhelmed with information. How to make heads or tails of it?! I landed on the basic health principle of “Get out the Bad Stuff, while Bringing in the Good Stuff.” Simple, I know, but this was the summary statement that I needed to persist in my evaluation of the TONS of information out there.
Soon, it became clear that I needed to support my body in it’s own healing process. Nobody really had a clue what caused or cured cancer, but it was clear to me that if my body was given the right tools, it could cure itself!
I began by cleansing my eliminative organs, so that they would be tuned to “Get out the Bad Stuff.” First, of course, was the colon (Cleansing Trio), then the liver (I used Peppermint, but since then JuvaCleanse and JuvaTone have been developed), then the kidneys (simply 8 oz of water and fresh OJ first thing every morning was what fit for me).
Then I focused on good nutrition and enzymes. VitaGreen and EssentialZyme handled all the basics in a simple routine that I could eat with meals. Then I eliminated processed foods and sugars from my diet, progressing to the significant elimination of most meats, dairy and cooked foods. I learned about raw food, raw fat, sprouts and juicing. All balanced with Lavender to help me relax and Raindrop Technique massage from my husband once in awhile. No fasting was allowed because I was nursing.
Then I went in for the CatScan. Some part of me was hoping that over these intense 3 weeks, maybe the liver issues would just have gone away… That was a fantasy, though. I’d been doing the wrong diet and basic habits for 30 years and 3 weeks couldn’t erase that. The CatScan also could not eliminate the possibility of liver cancer. A biopsy and colonoscopy was scheduled.
I kept studying and added immune system boosters (ImmuPro) and yoga stretching and walking to my health regime. I was scared, but I was also determined. I learned more about health and my body than I had learned in my prior 30 years. In a way, even then, I could reflect on what a gift it was to learn these principles early in my son’s life so that he could benefit from this fresh start.

About the Oils
Essential oils are the aromatic, volatile, and often delicate liquids that are stored in the stems, leaves, fruits, flowers, seeds, and roots of plants. Unlike common vegetable oils, essential oils do not oxidize and become rancid, nor are they greasy. More often they feel watery and barely there.
Throughout the history of humankind, in almost every culture in the world, essential oils were legendary for healing, fighting infection, and enhancing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual strength.
